It’s nice to welcome you on my blog again! I hope you’re doing great 🙂
Let me begin with the following question: Do you have any discolorations/pigmentation spots on skin? My skin has this nasty habit of developing these blemishes after the summer. Luckily, I don’t have to spend my money on some costly in-salon treatments to erase them. There are many home remedies that will leave you with even skin, no matter how old you are. It doesn’t even matter how widespread the discolorations are. Today I’ll reveal my proven tricks to deal with all kinds of pigmentation spots. Read on!
What Causes Skin Pigmentation?
The causes of skin darkening are numerous, of course, but first let me explain to you how it happens that your skin features pigmentation spots. Simply put, discoloration is the effect of uneven distribution of melanin in skin, which is a pigment residing in the basal layer of epidermis. Melanin can be also found in hair and in the uvea (eye).
Melanogenesis is the process of producing the skin pigment – melanin, and this process may be kicked off by sunbathing, or to be more precise, by the exposition to UVA and UVB. Additionally, melanogenesis is also strictly connected with hormones produced by ovaries, suprarenal gland, thyroid gland and pituitary gland. Therefore, any abnormalities in one of the just-mentioned organs, lack of sun protection, menopause and certain medications (especially those triggering photosensitivity) lead to uneven distribution of melanin. And this is how pigmentation spots and discoloration appear. For that reason you should always remember to wear sunscreens.
3 Foolproof Tricks To Erase Pigmentation Spots
Let’s get to the point. I promised to reveal my home remedies to erase pigmentation spots so let me guide you how to do it safely.
Home remedy for pigmentation NO. 1
BRIGHTENING CUCUMBER FACIAL MASK
It’s just great and I like it very much. Apart from having the brightening capabilities, this facial mask also leaves my skin fresh and moisturized. All you have to do is wash a cucumber and either slice it or grate it. Then apply it to the cleansed face, and let the cucumber do its magic for 15-20 minutes. For better results, enrich the mask with a dash of lemon juice.
Home remedy for pigmentation NO. 2
WHITENING BAKING SODA FACIAL MASK
One of the old-time home remedies for discolorations used by our grandmas and great-grandmas. This paste made with baking soda and water is super easy to prepare because you don’t have to be super precise with measuring and weighing the ingredients out. Just add a dash of water to baking soda and that’s it. Apply the paste, massaging it gently into the skin for an extra exfoliating effect. Rinse with water after a few minutes.
Home remedy for pigmentation NO. 3
HONEY & ALMOND FACE PASTE
Now, my dear Readers, we’re entering a home remedy in its exclusive version 🙂 Almonds are the costliest ingredient used for the pigmentation removal treatments I’m describing. Actually honey isn’t cheap either, but the effects it creates are amazing! Therefore, if you want to free your face from discoloration, grind the nuts and combine the almond powder with honey (1:2 respectively). Keep applying this paste to your skin EVERY DAY. You should see the improvement in a week, but in the case of heavy pigmentation, you may need two weeks. Let me just add that this almond and honey skin treatment doesn’t only leave skin brighter but also it retains moisture and is antibacterial.
