Hey, girls!
It’s summer time, 25ºC, blistering sun and no clouds in the sky… How can you cool yourself down? Hiding under an umbrella or in an air-conditioned room aren’t such great ideas. How to get through summer heat waves? Use refreshing and cooling products. Check out my favorites.
Why do we love cooling cosmetics?
You can use them all year round yet the effects are the best in the summer time. Ingredients of such products stimulate cold receptors located in the skin. They send a proper message to the brain: the organism must lower the temperature. After a while, we can feel pleasant coldness, refreshment and relief. Obviously, substances included in cooling products don’t lower the temperature but give such an impression. They simply soothe the overheated skin. What’s more, the fragrance of such cosmetics lets us feel relaxed, refreshed and rested.
What’s the composition of cooling products?
The ingredients of cooling cosmetics are responsible for delivering the real feeling of relief and freshness. The examples of such substances: menthol, peppermint oil, eucalyptus, aloe vera or algae extract. Interestingly, some citruses also have the same properties e.g. lime, grapefruit and lemon. You can find them in leg creams, slimming balms, shower gels, hair shampoos. Remember that you can’t use cooling cosmetics for washing the face. They can cause irritation, the feeling of smarting and burning. Such unpleasant feelings can last even up to an hour, and lead to redness in extreme cases.
When to use cooling products?
Cooling cosmetics work best for sunburnt skin, tired legs or swollen under-eye skin. Refreshing shower gel, menthol mist or aloe serum will soothe your body. You can use cooling products every day in the evening or right after sunbathes. Try out Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Cooling Moisture Mist or Yves Rocher Lemon and Basil Shower Gel that deliver chill and relief.
