This eyebrow pencil is very appreciated and I like it too: it always gives a nice look to my eyebrows whenever I reach for it 🙂 It works well for everyday wear and for special occasions. But I think it’s better to use it on thin eyebrows, as it may not work equally well on thick eyebrows as it’s a very soft, waxy eyebrow pencil. This eyebrow pencil is long-wear and comes in a variety of interesting shades that can be easily matched to your eyebrow color and skin tone. Although it may be difficult to find the one with such a big choice of shades. I had to take advice from a qualified makeup artist. There is nothing worse than spending money on an expensive product and choosing the wrong shade!

Fenty Beauty Ultra Fine Brow Pencil & Styler

Listen, I know that beauty products by Rihanna are super popular now. And of course, they are so highly praised that this eyebrow pencil had to earn a high place in my ranking. Especially since it’s pretty decent, but the question is – is it really the best brow pencil? Yes, it’s good, but it doesn’t make it to the first place for me. Its price and the lack of a traditional spoolie for brushing out the brows are the main downsides of the product.  This eyebrow pencil comes in 14 different shades, so I’m sure there’s a perfect one for all of you. And most importantly, it is very precise and can be used to draw the finest lines. Unfortunately, the price is quite high, and it’s also hard to remove it.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

This Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil is a popular choice when it comes to styling eyebrows. This eyebrow pencil, unfortunately, was quite average for me… personally, I think it seems a bit hard to use because of its shape. I do not know how to define my eyebrows with it precisely. I get tired when I need to fill in the arches with great precision and draw hair-like strokes. The fact that it’s nicely released and, of course, retractable, is a plus – there’s no need for sharpening it, as with other eyebrow pencils. A big plus for the cool brush for separating and styling brow hairs. Unfortunately, the thick and flat tip does not maintain its precision for long. I also noticed that this pencil can smudge and flake which is strange, because it’s a waterproof product. Perhaps you like thick, slanted tips in eyebrow pencils you will like this one….  for me, it is too wide and does not ensure precision while drawing of individual hairs.

Charlotte Tilbury Brow Cheat 

This recommended eyebrow pencil comes in 8 different shades, so you can easily match it to different eyebrow colors and skin tones. What’s also nice is that it gives your eyebrows a natural finish. You can further blend it for a softer effect, but in my opinion, this look is still quite bold… Unfortunately, I was unpleasantly surprised by the lack of a brush – it’s strange that for such a price this brow pencil doesn’t come with a built-in spoolie. Be careful though, as it’s easy to apply too much and it’s difficult to remove it. I, for one, recommend using it only for special occasions, and for everyday wear, I prefer a more natural look.

NYX Professional Micro Brow Pencil

This is a recommended retractable eyebrow pencil. There is no need to sharpen the pencil, which is quite convenient. Unfortunately, the tip is very soft and breaks constantly during the application so you can imagine how quickly it ran out. Personally, I prefer retractable pencils, but this particular one doesn’t work for me. Unfortunately, it is not very durable too. But for a few hours, it is enough. It comes in nice shades and that’s what I liked the most about it. Another plus for the convenient brush, which makes it easy to blend and and brush out the excess product. Overall, however, I think I’d rather pay extra for something better….

What’s better: a wax eyebrow pencil or a powder eyebrow pencil? There is no rule as to which brow pencil is better. It’s all a matter of taste. A waxy one gives a more glossy finish while a powdery one has a matte effect. The choice really depends on your taste, although in my opinion, it’s worth finding one that gives a balanced effect: neither unnaturally matte (that’s what we have brow powders for, after all) nor too shiny, because that doesn’t look natural. 

How to define eyebrows with a brow pencil?

Some people simply limit their brow makeup routine to adding individual hair-like strokes, but I like to emphasize the bottom brow line and improve the contour and shape of my eyebrows, so I simply first make an outline of the entire arch to correct unevenness and then fill in the eyebrows with color using a pencil. I apply a bit more product on the tail and keep the inner brow edge more subtle. Using a spoolie, I brush out the excess pencil and lightly blend the upper brow line, so that the eyebrows do not look too sharp. 

How to choose the right shade of eyebrow pencil? 

I know that sometimes looking at a variety of shades of eyebrow pencils you can get confused by the excess of options. A dozen different shades? Hmm… that’s cool for makeup artists, but it’s enough to match the shade to your brow color and skin tone (cool, warm, or neutral).

Eyebrow pencil for blondes

Blondes should look for “blonde”, “light blonde” or cool, very stylish “taupe” shades with cool undertones. 

Black eyebrow pencil

This eyebrow pencil is a product recommended for owners of deep black eyebrows, dark eyes, and dark hair. Indian women certainly love this color! Black eyebrow pencil is not for everyone – as it can sharpen facial features and make you look older!

Graphite eyebrow pencil

This is also a great eyebrow pencil for blondes but with cool undertones.
