If your hair is fine and lacks volume (just like mine) then I wholeheartedly encourage you to read this post. Finally I decided to share with my readers some methods to deal with thin hair. Actually, you have to stick to distinct care, various cosmetics and different styling techniques from what you are probably used to. All of these are going to be discussed below 😉
What should be done to add volume to hair? Certainly, the methods for long and thick hair are numerous, yet I’m going to focus on the ones that, in my opinion, are the most effective. So if you don’t want to look like Professor Severus Snape from Harry Potter don’t hesitate any longer and read more about fine hair care. Take small steps to reach your next beauty goal.
1st Step – Hair Conditioner Only Before Washing
Most hair conditioners were designed to be applied once we finish hair shampooing. There are conditioners that can be left on the hair as well as those that have to be rinsed after a few minutes, yet all of them have to be used as the second one in a sequence. This time try to do it the other way round and your hair will definitely say ‘thank you’ with its lightness. Use a conditioner before a shampoo and apply it to damp hair, distribute evenly to the entire lenght but avoid the roots. Wash the hair after a few minutes. The hair conditioner will fulfil its task without overburdening the strands. Remember to use only delicate shampoos designed for fine hair and restrain from applying leave-in conditioners.
2nd Step – Distribute Styling Mousse with a Comb
Don’t listen to those who say that you shouldn’t apply hair styling products when your strands are fine. Of course, you should use such cosmetics! However, instead of rubbing the products into hair using the hands, just as you probably have been doing this till today, try to apply it to a comb first and then go through your hair with the item. In this way it will be easier for the mousse to reach the hair roots as it won’t clump the strands.
3rd Step – Hair Spray Will Help Lift the Hair up at Its Roots
For hair styling use strong hold mousses and gels which don’t only limit the amount of fallen-out hair but also fix a hairdo effectively. It’s also a good idea to distribute spray at the damp hair roots. This will provide hair with more flexibility and will lift the strands during blow-drying. While talking about blow-drying, do it by rising the hair upwards with your hands. Thanks to this, you’ll add volume optically.
4th Step – Set a High Bun Before Going to Bed
My favourite method for lifting hair at its roots is definitely the right hair setting at bedtime. For me a loose bun set on the head top passes the exam. This hairdo fixes hair in the right position. In the morning the hair will be raised from the scalp which obviously adds volume. A similar effect can be obtained by applying big rollers. By placing them at the roots we will get delicate waves that are far from being flat.
