Warm days are coming and I’m sure that – just like me – you’d love to forget about pale and dull skin. Is there a way to do this quickly and safely? Sure there is! And I don’t mean a sunbed. Let me tell you how you can get a tan without causing any harm to your skin.
Why you should say NO to sunbeds
I’ll be very straight about it. Firstly, you can get addicted to this and this may get too dangerous and hazardous. There are people looking like some irradiated walking carrots. More worryingly, they think that they’re pale so they keep visiting solarium almost every day. This leads to skin damage and even cancer. Secondly, even a short session in a sunbed contributes to dryness, irritations, reddens and in general you may end up with a nasty rush. Thirdly, you help your skin age faster when you expose it to sun lamps. Do you need more reasons?
How to get a tan without sunbeds and the Sun?
Yes, you can do it! The effects are super quick, the tan itself looks natural and the treatment is totally safe. What can give you these results? Beauty products, of course.
The present-day self tanning creams are formulated with amazing ingredients. When it comes to the form, there are quite a number that you can choose from. I personally go for self tanners in mousse or oil body serum. In most cases these products come with a glove to help you distribute the self tanner evenly. Personally I love Super Soft Tanning Mitt, but you don’t have to use such a gadget, especially if you know how to spread the product evenly. Do self tanners deliver quick effects? – I’m sure you want to ask that. Well, it depends on the product but in most cases skin turns beautifully brown within 4-8 hours. Oh, and the best bit is that you can enjoy the effects that last 2-3 weeks! And you need to apply this product just once.
Subtle and gradual tanners
If you’re afraid that a self tanner would fail you because you aren’t good at applying such products, you may try other cosmetics that don’t give you an instant effect but rather slowly work on your tan, provided that you keep using it regularly. These sunless tanners will give you subtly brownish skin, so-called sun kissed skin. As for the application, instead of putting the tanner just once, you need to do so for a few days in a row. Two biggest pluses of those “slower” tanners are that they reduce the risk of uneven tan and smudges, and they don’t give off the very characteristic smell, which sadly is typical of regular self tanners. The only minus that comes to my mind is the wait, but to me the effects are totally worth it because such products, apart from turning your skin darker slowly, they also nourish the skin.
Do you use regular self tanners or gradual tanners? Which one is your favorite? Do you always succeed in spreading the product evenly over skin? Which self tanners do you recommend? Leave comments below!
